Lead Auditor Training
A Practical, Interactive Approach to Auditing
Learn how to audit a quality management system and hone your audit technique
In this intensive three-day course, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of how to audit a quality management system while also enhancing your knowledge and skills through an interactive and practical approach to auditing. The course offers a hands-on opportunity to apply various auditing techniques through real-world scenarios and role-play.
This course is based on ISO 19011:2011, “Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems,” teaching how to audit a quality management system using real-world case studies and developed to hone the understanding and practical application of how to document audit notes and nonconformities.
Course Format
This course is offered online or in person at a customer’s location and includes class exercises, discussions, and case studies, such as:
- Group discussion on understanding continual improvement
- Developing personal objectives for auditing
- Exercises on documenting how to audit using the process approach
- Examples of objective evidence
- Six hands-on case studies based upon real auditing experiences
- Completion of Audit Nonconformance Reports to ensure an effective understanding of audit issues
- Conducting an audit exit meeting
Who Should Attend
This course is ideal for those interested in internal auditing and/or lead auditing performing supplier or third-party audits. For those pursuing an API auditor certification, this course fulfills the training requirement for all API auditor certification schemes.
Optional Course Customization
While our standard Lead Auditor class is taught according to API Spec Q1, the course could incorporate auditing to one or more of the following quality management system standards based upon your goals:

Depending upon the standard selected and the overall goals for the participants, the class duration may be extended. Additionally, live, in-person courses offer an option to directly engage auditor competencies by performing an onsite mini-audit of your quality management system.
