Reduction of Nonproductive Time for Oil & Gas Exploration Activities

QSI leadership worked in the drilling department of a Middle Eastern oil and gas company to significantly reduce the failure rates of drilling services providers’ tools for an eight-rig offshore drilling program.

Nonproductive Time Assessments

When a consortium of seven international offshore drilling companies had continuing failures of subsea blowout preventer control equipment from suppliers.
QSI developed a means to perform assessments of their supply chain to detect the conditions that create nonproductive time on the rigs before they occur.
Upon performing the assessments, QSI identified common practices that were responsible for causing nonproductive time on the rigs.

Consulting & Development of ‘Train the Trainer’ Program for Mexico’s Center for Applied Innovation

QSI worked with a Mexico partner on training related to a structural design of Hydrocarbon, Petroleum, and Petrochemical Flow Measurement System program, including training against the American Petroleum Institute (API) Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards. Concurrently, QSI developed a “train the trainer” course for subject matter experts to deploy. QSI was also instrumental in attaining API University Approved Provider status for the client.

Oil & Gas Project Integrity Management System Development

QSI developed a project-specific Integrity Management SystemTM for an international oil and gas project.
The IMS consisted of a framework which documented processes for assessing and mitigating risks to reduce both the likelihood and consequences of incidents related to assets, facilities and operations integrity.

The IMS was comprised of a hierarchical (tiered) management system that addressed requirements for quality (ISO 9001), health & safety (ISO 45001), environment (ISO 14001), and information security (ISO 27001) against the specified requirements of international standards, including regulatory requirements (i.e., for the country in which the project was located).

Operational Integrity Assessments

QSI performed cross-functional integrity management assessments across an oil and gas company’s operations to determine conformity with predetermined benchmark criteria. Departments assessed included: Corporate Planning, Organizational Development, Information Technology, Procurement, Records Management, Regulatory, Land Acquisition, Geosciences, Exploration, Drilling, Production, and Reservoir, including the process facilities.
