The Women’s Home 2013 Gala – A Sentimental Journey

gala 2013On a beautiful Friday evening, November 15, 2013, The Women’s Home welcomed 285 guests to the majestic ballroom of The Corinthian for our annual end-of-year gala. The night’s theme: “The Supper Club at the Shamrock – A Sentimental Journey”, came to life with magnificent chandeliers, crystal-bordered tables, orchids and white roses in statuesque vases, and the classic elegance of black and white décor. The long and grand main room of The Corinthian was anchored on each end by the musical talents of the Richard Brown Orchestra, featuring “torch singer” (and local favorite) Sharon Montgomery, along with Todd Honeycutt. Attendees of the event – some long-time supporters of The Home and some brand new friends – mingled and danced the night away, looking lovely in their gorgeous gowns and dashing suits.

Mistress of Ceremonies, Lisa Malosky, expertly guided the evening’s events, which included wonderful music and food, a successful live and silent auction, and a dance floor packed with smiling faces. Special moments included the moving (and always hilarious) words from this year’s Honoree, Brené Brown, Ph.D., and an exciting $200,000 grant announcement by Bank of America’s, David Ruiz. In the end, the gala was much more than a night of fun. It was – thanks to the generosity of those who attended – an event that brought in $306,000 in crucial funds…dollars that will help The Women’s Home to continue providing the programs and services necessary to help women in crisis.

Many thanks to all involved in making this year’s gala a success. Without you, our work would not be possible.
